Recording Studio FAQs

The turn around varies on the project! If you are recording a single the approximate turn around is 1-2 weeks, but can vary depending on the timeline, amount of tracking days and revisions.

For an album (10-12 songs) you should allow for 2 months from start to finish of the project!

We also recommend to all bands to factor in PR/marketing time into their project timeline. Spotify Pitching (for editorial playlisting) is an 8-12 week process but can have a huge impact on your bands exposure.

Each project is individually quoted as each song is different! We have a modern workflow that ensures we make the most of your time and work within your budget. Typically a song takes between 1-3 days to record, depending on the amount of layers/harmonies etc. Costs for a single can vary from $800 and upwards, but we will work to your budget and ensure you are getting the best bang for your buck.

Our studio day rates are; $500/day for weekdays and $650 for weekends for a 9am-7pm day.

For album/EP recordings, we offer bundled pricing to help bands manage the cost. It can be 20% cheaper per song to record a group of work, so this is worth considering!

We quote each project so if mixing and mastering is needed then we will set the price accordingly. If you wish to mix or master the project externally, then we will reduce the price!

Our engineer Emmett takes all external mixing work and we refer all external mastering work to our house-trusted mastering engineer Brodie Stewart (https://www.mixedbybrodie.com/).

Mixing cost: $400/song
Mastering cost: $125/song

For album/EP mixing/mastering, we also offer bundled pricing.

We recommend that bands have new heads on their drums, and new strings on their guitars/basses as a starting point. Some projects this is not necessary, however that depends on the vibe of the song!

We have great relationships with local vendors and can organise drum heads/guitar strings to make your life easier when recording.

Absolutely! Your hire includes use of all of our amplifiers/guitars/basses/drum kits/cymbals and snare drums.

We have guitars and basses from; Gibson, Fender, Ernie Taylor Customshop, Cole Clark and more!

Our drum kit, snare and cymbal selection ranges from; Ludwig, Gretsch, DW and Tama with cymbals from various ‘K’ Zildjian ranges.

Our amp selection covers most genres with brands such as; Vox, Fender, Orange and PRS. We also have a large range of high quality digital amp modellers/plugins from brands; Neural DSP, MixWave, STL Tones and JST.

The Emerald Room has Pro Tools and Logic Pro X as standard, if there is interest we will invest in Ableton and Cubase as well (let us know!).

As for plugins our brands include a variety from; Fabfilter, Plugin Alliance, Waves, Slate Digital, IK multimedia and SoundToys.

We have a really simple system for recording dry hire, but we still accomodate engineers who want to bring their own equipment.

Our B-Rig (16 IN//4 OUT) allows engineers to patch into the front of our rack, and not worry about losing time to rewiring! Our engineer Emmett will show you through when you hire the space!
